OnlyOffice (Desktop): an excellent free alternative to Microsoft Office

OnlyOffice (Desktop) is a free office suite that positions itself as a serious alternative to Microsoft Office. The software opens Microsoft Office-generated files without any issues, maintaining formatting and functionality (unlike, for example, Apple’s Pages). It is compatible with the 3 major consumer operating systems (macOS, Linux, and Windows). Finally, as you can see in the image below, the interface is very similar to that of Microsoft Office, which eliminates the need to relearn how to navigate it.

The only drawback is that the software is developed using Electron technology, which can sometimes be demanding in terms of RAM usage and may lack responsiveness. That being said, OnlyOffice is a solid and free alternative to Microsoft Office, particularly appealing to users looking for good compatibility.
